Memory and Seasons

In graduate school, we were tasked with creating a conceptual piece based on a memory and a season. However, it was crucial that we avoided the conventional memories typically associated with a season. I was assigned the season of winter. I recalled a memory from my childhood in Mexico, where I accidentally stepped on a jellyfish. This memory stood out to me.

Despite wanting to incorporate some of the core themes associated with winter, such as barrenness, serenity, peace, and the anticipation of rebirth, I decided to take a different approach. I pondered on the idea of water recycling itself through evaporation and how the water from a wintry tree could contain traces of the same water that once carried that jellyfish in Mexico. The concept revolved around rejecting anything white.

To bring this concept to life, I used RealFlow, Cinema 4D, and After Effects as my creative tools.
